Pondicherry Pudumai Handicrafts Artisans Co-Operative Society is a registered Society formed during the year 1997 with 165 craftsmen and their families in and around Pondicherry region, being the members of the Society. In order to develop and to monitor the activities of the Society, the Government has appointed the General Manager, District Industries Centre as the Administrator.

The main objective of the Society is to develop the local handicrafts and to uplift the livelihood of poor artisans in the Union Territory of Pondicherry besides, improving their quality and design to cope with export market. The Society running a Sales Emporium in the Beach road, Pondicherry so as to attract tourist at a greater extent and at times the foreigners to encourage the export of handicrafts of Pondicherry. The Society also conducts various exhibitions in Pondicherry and also arranges in other parts of India.

The Society markets the products manufactured by the artisans through various exhibitions and at Sales Emporium and enables the artisans to sell their products easily without any expenses. The Society extends all possible help to the artisans and hence the artisan finds the Society as a hub to their livelihood.
