ORDER:-
The following Notification shall be published in the State Gazette.
Industrial growth plays a major role in the economy of the State. In
the present scenario of competitiveness, there is a need to provide conducive
environment by the Administration to the entrepreneurs to ease their efforts
in setting up of industrial units in the shortest possible time. A single
point contact system for prospective entrepreneurs is at to deliver the services
of the government with more transparency. To fulfill these objectives, it is
decided to set up an Industrial Guidance Bureau (IGB) to facilitate the
entrepreneurs and promote industries in the Union Territory of Pondicherry.
2. The entrepreneurs desirous of investing in Pondicherry shall be extended
all facilities through the IGB in the process of obtaining clearances from
various Departments in a time bound manner. This will expedite the course of
setting up of projects, saving time and resources.
3. Presently two Committees are functioning in this Administration vide G.O.
No. 10, dt. 21/10/2000 for the purpose of assisting/monitoring the issue of
clearances for setting up of industrial units:
i) State Level Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary with the concerned
Secretaries and Heads of Departments as members to monitor the progress of
Large & Medium scale industries and cases of small scale industries delayed
beyond 3 months for the issuance of clearances and also to take policy decisions
for the growth of industries in this territory.
ii) Regional Level Committee, (Chaired by Secretary (Ind. & Com.) for Pondicherry
Region and by the regional Administrators for the outlying regions, with the
Heads of Departments as members) for the purpose of monitoring the issue of
clearances to small scale and tiny sector industries and also to assist the State
Level Committee.
4. In order to ensure a time bound, simplified and a single point contact system
of registration for setting up of industrial units in this territory, His
Excellency, the Lieutenant-Governor, Pondicherry is pleased to constitute the
"Industrial Guidance Bureau (IGB)" in lieu of the Single Window Committee.
(i.e., the Regional Level Committee for Pondicherry).
5. The objectives of the IGB and the single point contact procedure for
obtaining clearances is given below:
